what this service is

Buyer-side consultancy on a fifteen-to-twenty-year commitment.

A PPA is a long-term commercial commitment. The terms you agree today on price, indexation, contract length, break clauses, and technology risk will govern your energy costs for the next fifteen or twenty years. Most businesses receive their PPA advice from the PPA provider. That advice is not independent.
Arc acts as your independent PPA Consultancy. We are not a funder, developer, or offtaker. We earn no commission from the counterparty you appoint. The consultancy fee is paid by you, and in return you receive advice shaped entirely by your commercial position, not by what is easiest or most profitable for the party on the other side of the table.
what we deliver

What we deliver.

Five workstreams across a typical PPA mandate.
01

Suitability assessment

Not every site or organisation benefits from a PPA. The first deliverable is an honest assessment of whether a PPA is the right structure, compared to capex, lease, or continued grid supply.
02

Structure consultancy

On-site CPPA, sleeved PPA, virtual PPA, or funded PPA. Which is appropriate given your energy profile, procurement governance, financial position, and reporting obligations.
03

Counterparty evaluation

Structured procurement process. Funders and developers evaluated against technical capability, financial standing, contract terms, and track record. Independent shortlist.
04

Contract negotiation

Indexation mechanisms, performance guarantees, step-in rights, and termination provisions reviewed and negotiated on your behalf, alongside your legal team.
05

Portfolio programmes

For organisations with multiple sites, consultancy on aggregation strategy, phasing, and counterparty bundling to maximise the commercial leverage of portfolio scale.
why arc

Independence is the entire reason to use a PPA consultancy.

Arc does not finance, fund, or provide PPA structures. We do not earn from the counterparty. The advice you receive is shaped by your interests, including, where the evidence supports it, the advice that a PPA is not the right answer for your organisation.
PPA consultancy is increasingly required by organisations with procurement governance obligations: property funds, logistics operators with SBTi commitments, housing associations, and commercial landlords managing multi-site energy strategies. Arc has the commercial and technical capability to advise across all PPA structures available in the UK market.
frequently asked

Questions clients ask before engaging.

No. Arc does not finance, fund, or provide PPA structures. We advise on which structure is right and manage the process of selecting and contracting with the right counterparty. The independence is what makes the advice worth having.
A fixed consultancy fee for smaller mandates, or a fee tied to the contracted PPA value for larger corporate programmes. The fee is agreed in the scope of work before any consultancy engagement begins. Arc earns nothing from the counterparty.
Four to eight weeks from initial assessment to signed contract for a standard structure. Multi-site corporate programmes take longer, typically three to six months including counterparty procurement.
Yes. PPA structure has direct consequences for Scope 2 reporting under the GHG Protocol. Arc can advise on the reporting implications of different PPA structures alongside the PPA consultancy mandate, or via the separate Net Zero engagement.
